How to Write a Limerick Poem

Today we are starting our Poetry unit by learning Limerick Poems. Use the image to learn about what makes a Limerick poem special!

Example of an AABBA pattern poem:


There once was a cat named Mitch.

He was roaming in the ditch.

He found a penny

It turned into many

They now call him Mitch the Rich!


Learning Task:

Must do:

1. Complete the Limerick planning page in your Poem writing book as a rough draft

2. On the next page, transfer your poem into a final draft (best spelling, printing, and coloring).
